This week, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment announced it will launch in Ontario's new iGaming and Sports Betting market. The company will debut in the market through a deal with leading sports betting provider Kambi Group. And the launch will take place through the Fallsview Casino Resort brand located in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The province's open market for private online gaming and mobile sports betting operators was launched on April 4, 2022. As of last Friday, more than 23 operators and 21 game sites have been broadcast live within the jurisdiction, and Kambi Group is one of them. The company has already offered sports betting products to other provincial brands.
Fallsview Casino Resort is the largest gaming facility in Canada, and one of the most popular gaming brands in Canada. So operator MGE expects the casino's name and popularity to ensure the successful launch of mobile sportsbooks in the province. The agreement is also an important step for the Kambi Group, which already operates in 17 U.S. states and currently in Ontario.
Kambi CEO and co-founder Kristian Nylén said the Canadian gaming market and Ontario in particular are among the company's enormous potentials. He said he was pleased to sign deals with MGE and Niagara Falls properties and make his official debut as a regulated online sports book in his jurisdiction.
Mr. Nylen is also looking forward to the results of a partnership between his global mobile sports book and the famous name Fallsview Casino Resort. With this collaboration, Ontarians promise to deliver all the joys of a single event and in-game betting, along with the unparalleled combination of sportsbooks.
Rich Roberts, president of MGE's Mohegan Digital, said now is an exciting time for the online betting industry as sports betting continues to boom. He says the company is happy to partner with the Cambi Group and is proud to present the PlayPallsview online sportsbook. In other words, the app will be the first mobile gaming product outside the U.S. for the company.
The new regulated market is overseen by the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission, and regulators have recently shown that they are keeping a close eye on the market. This week AGCO announced that it had fined both BetMGM and PointBetCanada 48,000 CA$ for violating Internet gaming standards. BetMGM charged CA$35,000.
Also last week, regulators updated Registrar's Standards for Gaming. The changes were made to enhance player protection across land - based real estate and charitable game centres. According to AGCO, three sections of the rule have now been updated. One of them was a ban on public advertising of incentives, bonuses and credits for sports and event betting products.
